My new love: Vampire Knight. <3
I know, I know. I said I was going to watch Death Note next. But I couldn't resist Vampire Knight. I watched the first episode to see how it was, and then I was hooked. I couldn't do anything but watch it from beginning to end. And luckily, it only had 26 episodes, because I spent hours at a time watching it during the weekend and finals break, and I was careful not to watch 'too much' so that my parents wouldn't get too annoyed. C=
Now about Vampire Knight. I don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't read it (and is planning on reading it), but ZERO! Ahhh, he is the soul of the story, and my favorite character. Aidou came at a close second, and then Ichijo. Of course, I support Yuuki x Zero forever. About their names... it was so confusing to keep up with everyone's names in the anime, since they would switch to calling people by their first and last names all the time. And when I looked up the character names on Wikipedia, some of the spellings are completely different than then what the episode subtitles said. Many of the characters would address the other in third person while talking to them... which was kind of weird when watching as well. XD
The strangest thing about Vampire Knight is the resemblance of the characters to Twilight characters. When I immediately saw the group, I made these comparisons:
Yuuki Cross - Bella Swan
Kaname Kuran - Edward Cullen
Zero Kiryuu - Jacob Black
Takuma Ichijo - Carlisle Cullen
Ruka Souen - Rosalie Cullen
Akatsuki Kain - Emmett Cullen
Senri Shiki - Jasper Cullen
Rima Touya - Alice Cullen
Of course, there are many differences as well. The story is definitely different of course, but some facts still remain. Yuuki is the main character, the one who finds trouble wherever she goes. Kaname is the rescuer, who watches over her. Zero is the one that despises the vampires, and hates anything to do with them. Ichijo is not the oldest, but I consider him as the peaceful type. Ruka is vain... a similarity that I can compare with Rosalie. Senri can control things, and he has a Jasper-like quality that I can't ignore. And Rima is small and pixie-like, but she has a soft voice and personality--different from Alice in ways.
But... even after watching Vampire Knight, I still have to say it isn't a match for Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle as a show, although it does come at a very close second.
So after Vampire Knight, it's off to Death Note (at last!) =)
